Frequently Asked Questions

Our 200 hour teacher training program is for yoga enthusiasts who want to learn, practice & spread a life lead by yoga philosophy. Whether you want to deepen your own practise or begin your journey towards becoming a yoga teacher, the most important requirement is that you come with a dedicated open mind-set towards yogic life & ethics.

We require that you have a minimum of 3 months of a consistent yoga practice before enrolling in our teacher training program. We want to make sure that trainees have a basic foundation in the primary yoga postures before learning how to teach.

If it appears that you do not have the necessary foundation, we will kindly ask you to defer your training until you have this experience. Please be aware that each day includes a vigorous two + hour asana class.

You can now sign up for our 50 hour, 95 hour, or 200 hour TTC by emailing nomadyogaom@gmail.com, we will send you a registration form. We will follow up within 48 hours of receiving your payment with your training welcome materials. A $200usd deposit is due upon enrolment to hold your spot. Full payment is required by lunch time on the first day.

We recommend that you check with your physician first and must sign a waiver stating that you are able to take the class. With your doctor’s permission and release, minor physical limitations can also serve as helpful demonstrations to learn to work with students with similar limitations.

We recommend pregnant students not to take this course as you need a lot of energy, and a lot of poses are not suitable for pregnant bodies without modification. We would strongly recommend a pre-natal yoga teacher training and can highly recommend this one: https://www.dolphinmethod.com/prenatal-yoga-teacher-training/

You must be at least 18 years old to take the teacher training. If you are between 16 and 18 years old it is required that we receive approval from the trainer and written consent from your legal guardian 30 days before the start of the training.

All Nomad Yoga Teacher Training books & manuals are included.

200-HOUR RECOMMENDED READING:

– Light On Yoga by B.K.S Iyengar

Discipline is the main pillar of success in becoming a true yogi. As such, we expect you to attend each class with attentiveness although we certainly understand listening to what your body tells you. Any absences from class must be notified in writing. If you miss a class you must make up the extra hours in your own time, you can arrange with class mate or teacher to go through what you have missed.

In order to graduate the program, payment should be made in full and you should fulfil the following requirements:

– Attendance of all in-class teacher training sessions
– Successful completion of homework and take-home final exams (don’t worry, you will be will prepared!)
– Participation in a final in-class practice teaching practicum

Expect to spend approximately 5 hours a week on homework. The homework is designed to cover the 20 non-contact hours. It supports the material covered in class and helps you integrate what is presented into your own practice and teaching.

This assessment includes both a written and practical teaching exam which will be evaluated by your lead teacher.

You will have approximately 4 hours of practical classes per day within your course. You may attend other classes outside the scheduled hours depending on space availability and does not include any special events or workshops. Depending on availability classes are free for one month after teacher training in exchange for class teaching & assisting and/or marketing projects.

Yoga Alliance is an organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create nationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher training’s in the US. More and more yoga studios around the world are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance, either at the 200-Hour or 500-Hour level. Yoga Alliance registration, however, is not a legal requirement for teaching yoga. Currently, there are no legal certification requirements to be a yoga teacher. The Nomad Yoga Training’s are approved by the Yoga Alliance 200-Hour.

Once the course has been completed each student is responsible for registering to Yoga Alliance.

See https://www.yogaalliance.org/Credentialing/HowToRegister for registration.

To register you will need to insert ‘Nomad Yoga Hoi An’ as the school.

Yes! With the successful completion of all the requirements of the program, including contact hours, homework, and exam, you will receive your certificate of completion evidencing your training at 200-hour level. You can say you are a ‘certified’ yoga teacher.

You may also register with the Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org) at the RYT-200 level (Registered Yoga Teacher 200). Graduates of the 200-Hour program usually begin teaching in small studios, gyms, with private clientele (friends and family), etc. After you register you can say you are a ‘registered’ yoga teacher.

Many new teachers decide to continue their Teacher Training education and participate in our 300-Hour Professional Program as a way to further solidify their skills, knowledge, and style as a yoga instructor. See 300 hours training at our sister school Rishikul. https://www.rishikulyogshala.org/300-hour-yoga-teacher-training.html
